Wrinkles make a Halloween costume look more realistic when it comes to some ghoulish figures. The costumes for ghosts, witches and goblins look unrealistic when they are pressed or wrinkle-free. Wrinkles can also make clothes and costumes appear old and raggedy. Follow these steps to make wrinkles for Halloween costumes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tie your Halloween costume in to a big knot or a series of small knots. Put it in the washing machine and wash it as you normally would. Dry it thoroughly then when you untie it your Halloween costume will have wrinkles covering it.

  2. Step 2

Pinch folds in to your Halloween costume. Using an iron, flatten the folds until you permanently embed the folds into the costume. Custom make as many wrinkles as you desire.

  3. Step 3

Saturate a piece of clothing in starch and water. Tie the clothing with string wherever you want wrinkles to appear then put it in the dryer. You can also leave it sitting in a lump on a countertop until it dries to make it extra wrinkly.

  4. Step 4

Roll the Halloween costume around a coffee can. Allow it to dry for several days to put wrinkles throughout the costume. Spray with a starch and water mixture to make the wrinkles extra stiff.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also use Step 2 to make defined ripples in pumpkin costumes. Pinch the fabric in even intervals and iron the folds to create the appearance of a pumpkin's rind.
  • When pinching the folds and ironing them watch for your fingers. It is easy to iron over the top of your fingers without realizing it.
