Your coconut cream pie has failed to set up. Now, you wonder what you should do. Dinner is in a couple of hours and you need a dessert. The best idea is to go a different direction. Don't make a pie; simply make another dessert.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coconut pudding
  • Cake mix
  • Eggs
  • Unflavored gelatin
  • Powdered sugar
  • Bread
  • Butter
  1. Step 1

Make use of the failed coconut pudding that is supposed to be your cream pie. Pour it into a bowl and discard the crust. Select another recipe (such as one of the following) to make for dessert.

  2. Step 2

Add the pudding to a white or yellow cake mix so that you will have an elegant, rich dessert. Replace the milk called for in the recipe with the same amount of cream pudding. Add 1 egg instead of the 2 to 3 that was originally called for. If the batter is too thick, add a little more pudding to thin it down.

  3. Step 3

Use an envelope of unflavored gelatin and add it to the coconut cream pudding. The mixture thickens, but won't have the consistency of a coconut pie. However, this makes a great filling for a cake or doughnut. You can also add powdered sugar to the pudding to make coconut frosting for a coconut cake.

  4. Step 4

Transform thin coconut cream pudding into coconut flavored bread pudding. Fill a casserole dish with pieces of torn bread. Mix 1 egg with the coconut pudding. Pour over the bread pieces, add pats of butter all around the top and bake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Coconut pudding can make cookies, cake, frosting and even candy. Just use your imagination and you can come up with a great dessert quickly.
  • Resist the temptation to use the coconut cream pudding for a beauty treatment. Cooked pudding is not what you need for your skin.
