How to Make Referee Penalty Flags

Sometimes a parent may feel like he has had enough and wants everyone to stop what they are doing. A creative way to get attention is to make a referee penalty flag to throw when others act up. It can, at the very least, break the tension and get attention.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Buy some bright yellow fabric made out of a durable material like nylon or polyester. The amount of fabric will depend on how many referee flags you want to make. You can find this at any local arts and crafts store.
Step2
Slice the fabric into 14 1/2-inch squares. 14 1/2 inches are the regulation size of a referee flag.
Step3
Put some sand or another item in center of the freshly cut fabric. Some people use a ball in the center. Whatever you use it just needs to give the penalty flag enough weight for throwing but be safe for you to throw around the house.
Step4
Stitch or sew the fabric securely around the center weight. A sewing machine may be required to get the stitches tight enough so that the center weight will not leak or come loose. Also, be sure to leave enough room around the stitches so it is not so tight that the stitches burst.
