How to Make Pictures out of Text

There are many reasons why a person would want to make a picture out of text. Making the word "Back" into a picture provides the user with a graphical representation on which to click and link to the previous page. Using a picture instead of standard computer fonts allows much more creativity and artistic license on the part of the designer. Here are a few ways you can make pictures out of text.

Instructions

Press the "Print Screen" button. This button, usually located above the "Insert" key on a standard keyboard, captures everything on a computer's screen and copies it to the clipboard. Open Word, or a similar word processing program, and right-click on the blank document. Choose "Paste" from the shortcut menu. A picture of your captured screen appears in Word in image form, including whatever words you had typed.

Use the "Text" tool available in most image authoring software programs, such as Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks. The "Text" tool usually looks like a capital letter "A." Start with a blank canvas and choose the "Text" tool. Click on the canvas where you would like to begin typing. Key your desired words or sentences and use style tools such as typeface, font size, color or kerning to change their appearance. Save the document. Depending on the particular software package, you may have to export the saved image document into a picture file with an extension such as .JPG or .GIF.

Employ Microsoft Word's "WordArt" feature. This button, a blue, tilted capital "A" located on the "Drawing" toolbar, allows users to input text and choose a text style. After pressing "OK," the typed words change from text into colorful graphics.

Utilize an online text image creator. If you don't have image modification software, some websites make pictures out of text for you. One such website, TEXT-IMAGE, takes any picture and changes it into a series of tiny words. The picture looks the same, but instead of pixels acting as the component parts of an image, words themselves make up the picture.
