Snowmen are an easy project for all ages to create with an assortment of beads and wire. If the kids are too young to work with beading wire, you can also use beading thread for this project. This is a project that only requires basic stringing techniques and very little knowledge of wire working.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Beading wire
  • Square, black bead
  • Flat spacer
  • White beads in three sizes
  • Seed beads in various colors
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nosed pliers
  1. Step 1

Cut a length of beading wire for the body of the snowman. Make sure the wire is several inches longer than the beads you are going to use for the hat and body of the snowman.

  2. Step 2

Make a loop at one end of the wire with round nose pliers. Slide the beads on the wire in order to make the snowman. First the square black bead, then the flat round spacer, the smallest white bead, the medium white bead and finally the large white bead. Cut two more pieces of wire.

  3. Step 3

Slide the color seed beads onto one of the newly cut pieces of wire. Fold both of the ends of the wire to secure the beads but leave the beads a little loose on the wire.

  4. Step 4

Wrap the beaded wire around the neck of the snowman between the small and medium sized beads.

  5. Step 5

Twist the wire around itself a couple times to hold the piece in place. This creates the scarf for the snowman. Wrap the second piece of cut wire around the main wire between the small and the medium white beads.

  6. Step 6

String on brown beads on each side of the wire before bending the ends of the wire to secure the beads and cutting the excess wire. This forms the arms for the snowman.

  7. Step 7

Push all the beads and wire pieces firmly up against each other and secure the bottom of the wire by bending the wire over itself and cutting the excess. Bend the ends of the arms and scarf to make the effect that you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to decorate the face of the snowman, use a permanent marker in various colors to add eyes, a nose, or buttons to the white beads that make up the snowman.
