When you're busy using different browsers and programs on your computer, you may forget to do important tasks. However, if you set a Windows pop up reminder, you can receive a reminder no matter what program you're working in. Use the following steps to set your own popup reminder in Windows XP or higher.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the Advanced Task Scheduler. You can get this free software program from the South Software website. Follow the installation instructions and then restart Windows XP to start using the program.

  2. Step 2

Sync your PC time with the time on the Advanced Task Scheduler program. You need to do this before setting up any of your reminders to make sure the time's correct.

  3. Step 3

Select the new task option from the software program's main menu. Give the task a name, select the time for the popup message to appear and the description of the reminder.

  4. Step 4

Pick the type of popup reminder you want to appear on your Windows operating system. You can have your reminder appear as a balloon tip, a window, or a transparent window near the task bar.

  5. Step 5

Save the reminder. Before closing the popup reminder program, you should make sure you save the information.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you wish to remove the popup reminder, select the "remove task" option from the main menu of Advanced Task Scheduler.
  • You can modify your popup reminder within the Advanced Task Scheduler program. Click on "Task properties" after logging into the program.
