How to Get a Best Friend to Stop Hating Your Boyfriend

Relationships can be fickle things that given any upset will change at a moment's notice. This is never more so than when a person's best friend just cannot get along with the boyfriend. It is tough to make both happy, but with a little effort, you can bring the best friend around to liking or at least tolerating your boyfriend.

1. Talk to your best friend about the discord. It may be a simple misunderstanding, but even if it is not, you can at least learn your best friend's reasons for hating your boyfriend. Just ask your best friend in a calm and concise manner why she hates your boyfriend.

2. Ask them both to spend time with you. Ask them both to go out to dinner with you or maybe to an amusement park. Just get them both together and maybe the best friend's opinion will change.

3. Sit your boyfriend down and explain to him how important your best friend is to you. Your boyfriend just may be doing something that really annoys your best friend. Therefore, if he can just modify his behavior the problem may just be fixed. However, it can be something bigger but even then, not all is lost. Just ask him to work on the relationship with your best friend.

4. Have them spend some time together without you there. Your presence may be altering the relationship dynamic so if they can spend some time away from you it may help them realize they have more in common than just you.

5. Dump one of them. If you have tried everything you can think of and the best friend still hates the boyfriend, think about severing one of the relationships. Now, some of the reasoning for the best friend's dislike may be valid, and if so, then the boyfriend has to go. However, if there really is no basis for your best friend hating your boyfriend then you may have find a new best friend. Obviously, this step is only a last resort, but you have to think about your own well-being.
