If you and your kids are fans of the TV show "Dragon Tales," you'll love making dragonchip cookies as seen in "The Balancing Act" episode made by Mr. Dustfree. These cookies are similar to chocolate chip cookies but use candy pieces in place of chocolate chips. Use the following ingredients or your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbs. honey
  • 1 1/4 cups butter
  • 1 cup candy pieces
  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Prepare an ungreased cookie sheet to place the dough on.

  2. Step 2

Cream together butter, sugar and honey. For easiest mixing, leave the butter out at room temperature before blending.

  3. Step 3

Add eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture. Stir together until blended.

  4. Step 4

Stir together flour, baking soda and salt in another bowl and add little by little to the butter mixture. If a child is stirring, supervise the stirring to make sure that the flour mixture isn't spilled out of the mixing bowl.

  5. Step 5

Add candy pieces, such as chocolate morsels, of your choosing.

  6. Step 6

Use 2 spoons to form balls of dough and drop them a few inches apart on the cookie sheet.

  7. Step 7

Bake 10 minutes and cool on a wire rack when done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe for the dough, but substitute candy pieces for chocolate chips when you reach the final steps of mixing. Also add honey if it isn't included in the ingredients of your favorite recipe.
  • Use only red candy pieces for dragonchip cookies just like the ones in "Dragon Tales." Red candy pieces are easier to find around Valentine's Day and Christmas, or you can buy them in bulk from a candy store.
