Step 1
Congratulate yourself that you haven't spent money on something you can't afford. Chances are, your friend financed that TV and may owe money on it for months (or even years) to come. While he's busy paying off debt, you're not incurring it in the first place.
-
Step 2
Remember that electronics tend to come down in price rapidly. If you can't afford the plasma-screen TV this year, chances are you may be able to afford it next year.
-
Step 3
Appreciate your current television set. So what if it's not a plasma screen--it gets a good picture, has decent sound and overall gets the job done. Some people have no television at all, much less a plasma screen.
-
Step 4
Visit your friend who has the new plasma-screen TV as often as possible. The next best thing to owning a plasma-screen TV is having a friend who owns one. Just think--your friend is now stuck hosting every Super Bowl party, March Madness week and Wimbledon tennis match. This means less work for you, since you don't have to clean the house and stock up on food for hungry guests.

Step 5
Watch big sporting events at your local pub. Such establishments usually have nice, flat-screen plasma or LCD televisions, which can help compensate for the fact that you don't have one.
