What's Needed
Step1
Find your account number on the electric bill. This depends on your electrical company's policy. Some won't ask for this information.
Step2
Give first name, last name and phone number. Email address required when reporting a street light outage online.
Step3
Know the pole number located on the pole if observable. They have readable tags.
Step4
Provide the nearest street address to the outage. Offer any information to help locate the pole, including city and state. Some companies request driving directions.
Step5
Identify the problem. No light, intermittent light or pole down or damaged by storm or accident remain the most common problems for an outage.
Reporting at Duke Energy
Step1
Go to the Duke Energy website and click "Report a Streetlight Outage" (see Resources below).
Step2
Choose to phone the number listed or click "Request Outdoor Lighting Repair."
Step3
Answer the questions. These include location, directions, problem and account information.
Reporting at SCE&G
Step1
Go to the SCE&G's webpage "Emergency? Who to Call and What to Do" (see Resources below).
Step2
Locate "For power outages."
Step3
Click "Report Online" or call the phone number for "Streetlights & Outdoor Lighting."
Step4
Use your username and password or create a new account by clicking "New User?"
Step5
Fill out the form. Send the form when finished.
Reporting at Progress Energy
Step1
Click "Report a Streetlight Outage in the Carolinas" at the Progress Energy website (see Resources below).
Step2
Answer the questions to request street light area light repair. An account number isn't necessary for this form.
Step3
Push "Submit" with your mouse.
