Look cute. While genetics play a big role in this, there are a few things that you can do to stack the odds in your favor. Get a fashionable haircut and fix it nicely every day. Bathe every morning and put on deodorant and a little cologne, so you always smell good. Wear clothes that fit you properly.
-
2
Talk to her. She won't give you the time of day if you spend all your time staring at her from afar. Instead, engage her in conversation and give her plenty of opportunity to talk about herself and the things that she likes. Listen to what she has to say.

3
Be funny. Girls love funny guys, so if you want to get a girl to notice you, in sixth grade or anytime, make her and her friends laugh.
-
4
Excel at sports. The star of the soccer or basketball team is sure to catch the attention of the girls. So practice over the summer, and try your hardest to make the team.
-
5
Help her when she's in need. If she's struggling with her math homework or a science project, offer to come over after school and tutor her.

Tips & Warnings
It's not funny to make fun of others, especially if you want a girl to like you. She'll only think you're mean if you make fun of her and her friends.

This is 100% true. I myself am in sixth grade, and that is what gets my attention. And as you said in your warning, that is also true. A lot of people in my grade do that. It does get my attention, but it's a big turn off. -
