A rainy day doesn't have to mean an all day marathon watching reruns on television. Whether alone or with your family, you can have fun when it's raining. All it takes is some imagination and enthusiasm to get the day started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Call the White House comment line at (202) 456-1111. Leave a message for the president giving your opinion about a current issue. Write a letter or email your state congressman. Use the Internet to locate addresses (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Bake several varieties of cookies. Experiment with baking bread. Put up your umbrella and have fun delivering your baked goods to grateful neighbors.

  3. Step 3

Polish silver. A fun and easy method uses ordinary ingredients instead of traditional polish. Line a sink with aluminum foil. Fill the sink with steaming water. Add salt and baking soda. Dip the silver pieces into the sink for up to 5 minutes. Remove, rinse and dry.

  4. Step 4

Make a castle out of any size cardboard box. Remove the top flaps from the box. Cut wide rectangles out of the 4 top edges of the box to form 4 turrets. Notch along the top edges. Cut out doors and a drawbridge. Paint or decorate your castle.

  5. Step 5

Put on a play. Choose a simple story and assign parts. Recruit neighbors to fill out the cast. Make costumes from old clothes and everyday items. Arrange your furniture to create a set. Have a cast party to celebrate your performance.

  6. Step 6

Release your pent up energy. Start a game of freeze tag. Play hide and seek. Set up a timed indoor obstacle course. See how many push ups you can do.
