How to Make Cream of Mushroom Cube Steaks

- Cube steaks
- Cajun seasoning, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 can lemon-line carbonated soft drink
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- Dry onion soup mix

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Assemble all the ingredients. Grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish or use cooking spray.

Place the steaks on a cutting board and season on both sides with black pepper and Cajun seasoning. Adjust the seasonings to taste.

Put the cube steaks in the baking dish. Pour lemon-lime soda over the meat.

Wash the cutting board with hot soapy water after moving the raw meat to the baking dish. Be sure to wash hands well with soap and water before handling other foods.

Combine the cream of mushroom soup and the dry onion soup in a medium sized bowl. Mix well. Pour over the steaks.

Bake uncovered until the meat is tender, about 1 hour. Resist the temptation to open the oven door while the cube steaks are cooking.

Serve the cube steaks with the gravy spooned over them. Add rice, mashed potatoes or noodles, broccoli or mixed vegetables and a green salad.
