How to Make a Kid's Halloween Musketeer Costume
Author Alexandre Dumas brought the characters Athos, Porthos and Aramis to life in his novel, "The Three Musketeers." These heroes with their "All for one and one for all" motto inspire a child's Halloween costume.

1
Purchase 2 1/2 to 3 yards of blue fabric. The fabric should be long enough to flow past the knees of the child. Cut a hole in the center of the fabric for the head to go through.
-
2
Place the child's head through the hole in the fabric. Measure and mark where the shoulders. This is how wide the overshirt, or tabard, should be. The tabard should be slightly wider when it ends at just below the knees, so that it comes out past the knees on the sides.

3
Cut out 2 small blue rectangles for sleeves. Make sure they come at least to the child's elbows when measured from the collarbone. Lay the tabard out flat and attach the sleeves to it, even with the neck hole on the sides, either by sewing it on or with fabric glue. There's no need to close the sleeves, which can hang over the child's arms.
-
4
Sew or glue on 1-inch wide flat lace onto the sides and bottoms of the tabard and the bottoms of the sleeves.
-
5
Cut out a French style cross in white felt and attach it to the front of the tabard with fabric glue.
-
6
Add a black cowboy hat with a wide brim and hot glue one side of the brim up. Hold it in place until the glue dries. Stick a long white feather in the hat band.
-
7
Put the child in a white shirt, black pants and boots.
-
8
Give the child a plastic sword to hang on a belt at his side and the Musketeer costume is complete.
