Your pets are a part of the family. However, cats and dogs can leave annoying hairs all over your clothes when they brush against you. Removing pet hair from your clothing can be easy if you employ the right tools and techniques.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a lint brush. These brushes have a napped surface that catches fine hairs and traps them. After brushing in one direction over your clothes, simply rub backwards on a rag to clean the brush.

  2. Step 2

Vacuum your carpet and furniture daily to reduce the amount of pet hair that collects on your clothes. Run the brush end of the vacuum downwards over a hanging garment to remove most of the pet hair.

  3. Step 3

Spray a fine mist of a static control aerosol over your garment before vacuuming. Allow the pet hairs to absorb the solution for a minute or two and then vacuum. The static control spray will prevent the hairs from sticking to the fabric.

  4. Step 4

Spread a nappy sweater on the kitchen table and dust lightly with baking soda. Some knitted sweaters hold pet hairs fast in their bumpy weave, but soda will help release the hairs. Gently rub the soda in with your fingers, and then vacuum out. As a bonus, the baking soda will deodorize the sweater.

  5. Step 5

Don the rubber gloves when you need quick pet hair removal. Purchase gardening gloves with little nubs for the best result. Lightly dampen the gloves by pressing them onto a damp towel, and then gently rub the garment in small circles. The damp rubber will grab and collect the pet hairs so you can throw them away.

  6. Step 6

Brush shedding pets weekly during hot weather to reduce the amount of pet hair that accumulates on your clothing.
