There are a number of negative myths about metalheads. These include reports of metalheads acting loud, obnoxious and unintelligent. Many people see the typical metalhead as someone who doesn't care about the future and don't do well in school. It is possible to dispel many of these stereotypes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Make an effort in school. Get the best grades you can and show people that a metalhead can be just as smart as anyone else. Have your homework ready on time and take your academic responsibilities seriously.
Step2
Listen to music at a reasonable volume. There is a belief that metalheads aren't as interested in the music as they are in the loud volume. This can be dispelled by listening to it at a volume that calls attention to the music.
Step3
Be polite and respectful. Metalheads have a reputation for being rude and obnoxious.
Step4
Wear clothing that is appropriate to the situation. Wearing a Slayer shirt to a formal function is simply inappropriate. Be respectful of the people around you by dressing appropriately. This will help to end some of the negative myths about metalheads being uncultured.
Step5
Stay open to other types of music. One of the more pervasive negative myths is that metalheads won't listen to anything else. If you find another type of music that you enjoy, it doesn't make you any less of a metalhead.
