Step 1
Put on the skates and stand with feet parallel. Press feet to the outside to determine the "outside" edge. Press feet together for the "inside" edge. Choose which edge to skate on for the Mohawk sequence.
-
Step 2
Stand with the feet in the "T" position to begin the Mohawk sequence. Set the right foot pointing forward. Place the left foot behind the right and perpendicular to it.
-
Step 3
Push off with the left foot, stroking the whole foot away from the right. Shift all the weight onto the stroking foot. Glide on the right foot. Use the arms for balance.
-
Step 4
Pull the left heel in close to the right instep without touching it on the ice. Point the toe in the direction opposite the gliding movement while continuing to glide on the right foot.
-
Step 5
Set the left foot down on the ice. Life the right foot at the same time. Shift weight to the other side. Glide backwards on the left foot to complete the Mohawk sequence.
-
Step 6
Continue to shift the weight from one foot to the other. Point one foot forward to glide on, and then set the other foot down on the ice as the weight is shifted to shift your momentum and then glide backward.
