Vodka is the most popular distilled liquor in the world. It's made from fermented potatoes, beets or grain and produced using a process that was introduced in 1894 Russia by Alexander III. A vodka tonic is light, fizzy and refreshing, especially when accented by fresh citrus as a summer cocktail.

  • Fifth of citrus-flavored vodka
  • Oranges
  • Lemons
  • Lines
  • Tonic water
  • Ice

  1. Step 1

Slice the lemons, oranges and limes into quarters. Use a sharp knife and a plastic cutting board. Separate the quartered fruit into bowls.

  2. Step 2

Place the ice into the glasses. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon quarter and 1 orange quarter over the ice. Drop the fruit into the glasses. Remove any seeds.

  3. Step 3

Add the vodka and the tonic water. Finish with a squeeze of lime. Set the lime quarter on the rim of the glass.

  4. Step 4

Use a fresh strawberry to garnish the glass instead of lime. Squeeze the lime into the drink and discard.

  5. Step 5

Consider floating a few raspberries or in the drink for added color. Add a few pieces of mandarin orange for additional flavor and color. Add a twist of orange or lemon peel.
