How to Restrict Web Browsing Using Firefox

The Mozilla Firefox browser has many great tools to for a variety of activities. If you have young children, you may want to use the Glubble Family Edition add-on to limit access to undesirable websites. It is a full suite of parental controls for elementary age children.

Instructions

      Download the Mozilla Firefox browser if you don't already have it on your computer. It's free. Follow the prompts to set up the browser as you like it. Skip this step if you already have Firefox on your computer.

      Get the Glubble Family Addition add-on while you have your Firefox browser open. Click "Add to Firefox." When the next box opens, highlight "Glubble Family Edition" and click "Install Now." Click on "Restart Firefox" to complete the installation process.

      Read and accept the terms of use. You first need to fill out a parental form. Information needed includes an email address as well as a password.

      Provide the name(s) your children on the next screens. Usernames are fine to use if you don't want to use the child's real name. Each child has his or her own Glubble page.

      Click on "Take me to Glubble Child's Mode" on the next screen. Firefox restarts to protect the child from seeing anything they shouldn't.

      View the Glubble Child's Page. There are several preloaded children's websites. Click on "Leave Glubble Child's Page" in the upper right corner to go back to the parent's page.

      Edit the child's page from the parent's page. Add websites you know are OK for your child to view. From the parent's page you can also add other family members, both adult and children.

      Leave the Glubble Family Edition and return to normal Firefox use by clicking on the adult user tab in the upper left corner of the screen. A dialog box opens that asks for the password you assigned in Step 3.
