If you've ever sat down on someone's left behind chewing gum, you know that it can be frustrating to remove it. It sticks to everything it touches. Once you learn the trick to hardening the gum, you'll be able to remove it with ease.

Things You’ll Need:

Ice
Egg whites
Vinegar
Peanut butter
Mayonnaise
Knife or toothbrush

Using Ice

Step1

Try to remove the gum with your fingers by pulling it off gently. Remove as much as you can.

Step2

Apply ice to the remaining chewing gum by rubbing it back and forth across the gum until the gum is frozen. You can also put the track pants into a plastic bag and place the bag into the freezer.

Step3

Scrape the frozen gum off carefully with a knife or with a toothbrush so you don't rip the fabric. Be especially careful with delicate material like wool because you can rip the threads. Wash the tracksuit pants to remove any remaining gum.

Using Food Products

Step1

Break an egg open and separate the egg white from the yolk. Add the egg white to the dried gum. Let it sit until it soaks into the fabric. Gently remove the gum from the fabric. Wash the tracksuit pants.

Step2

Wet the area with vinegar. Let the area soak and watch the vinegar dissolve the gum from your track pants. Wash the tracksuit pants.

Step3

Use peanut butter or mayonnaise to loosen the gum from the material. Make sure they only touch the gum. These products remove the stickiness but they can also leave a grease stain on the surrounding material so be careful. Wash the tracksuit pants.
