How to Liquefy Granulated Honey

The world's oldest known sweetener, honey, is one of the few foods that never goes bad. Edible honey has even been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. Honey can become cloudy or grainy, or almost solid, but this problem can be solved. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Remove the lid from the container of honey you want to reliquify.

      Place the container in a pan of water, or put it in the microwave.

      Heat the pan of water at a medium temperature. While it's heating, watch the honey and stir occasionally. If you use the microwave, heat it for 15 seconds at a time at low or medium low. Check and stir it between each cooking time.

      Remove the honey from the pan of water or the microwave when it begins to liquify.

      Store the honey in a tightly-sealed container in a dark, cool place once it's a liquid again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Honey may become granulated, but it won't spoil.

  • You can replace sugar with honey in most recipes. One cup of sugar can be replaced by 2/3 cup of honey.

  • If you cook with honey rather than sugar, reduce the temperature of your oven by 25 degrees F.

  • Children less than one year old shouldn't eat honey. For people older than one year, honey can be a nutritious sweet because it contains minerals and trace elements that are needed in a healthy diet.
