Ghosting is a technical term used to describe programs that make a small cloned version of your PC. Ghost images allow you to quickly recover information on your PC. Ghost images record all the programs, files and settings on a PC at the time they are created.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Boot the computer the ghost image IDs are going to be loaded on with the floppy to create a connection to the ghostcast server.
Step2
Click "OK" in the window that appears and asks to boot from the floppy disk.
Step3
Type the name of the computer or the session into the box that appears.
Step4
Click on "Ghosting Menu" when the server console appears. This opens the ghosting software and gives you a list of ghost images to chose from.
Step5
Pick the ghost image you want to load and double-click its icon.
Step6
Follow the directions as it loads. The ghosting program asks you a series of questions on what to load from the image.
Step7
Click "Next and "OK" to move through the screens. When the ghost image is loaded, remove the floppy and reboot again. The computer now has all the information on the ghost image loaded on the PC.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ghosting is used by many large companies who employ the same programs on many different computers. This allows the programs to load without having to use a stack of disks.
  • When a ghost image is loaded on a PC, any information on the computer that is not in the ghost image will be lost.
