How to Drop In With Rollerblades

Tricks you can do on a skateboard or on Heelys can also be done on rollerblades. This includes skating a quarter-pipe. Dropping in on a quarter-pipe requires practice, so find a skate park with a small ramp to learn on.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Suit up. If you're out of the habit of wearing protective gear, get it on. A helmet is always a good idea to protect yourself from unforeseen spills, and wrist guards can prevent a serious wrist injury if you have to break a fall.
Step2
Start with a small ramp. Get to the top and put your front wheels over the edge. Keep your back wheels on the other side. Lean farther forward than you think is necessary, bend your knees and roll in.
Step3
Keep your weight forward and go with the roll. Try the small ramp a few times until you get the hang of it. Once you're comfortable dropping in on the small ramp, work your way up to the large ramp.
Step4
Try out the quarter pipe. Drop in the same way you did on the ramps. Keep your weight in front of you with your knees bent, or you will fall backward on your bottom.

Tips & Warnings

  • Skate up and down the ramp a few times to determine how high it is. Accelerate and go up the sides as close to the top as you dare until you are comfortable.
  • Check out a good skate park. You'll need to find one that has small ramps as well as quarter-pipes. Visit the park at different times to see when it isn't crowded so you can practice without interfering with the other skaters.
