How to Put Shoes on a Baby
Dressing up your infant for an outing is one of the joys of parenthood and shoes finish any outfit. These shoes are not walking shoes, but merely fashion accessories for the well-dressed baby. Recognize that your baby may thwart your attempts at fashion by arching his feet, curling his toes and making those shoes the hardest item to put on.

1
Look for baby shoes that comfortably fit your child's' feet. Measure your baby's feet to ensure the shoes you purchase fit her foot's length and width.
-
2
Check that you have the correct shoe for each foot before attempting to put on the shoes. Open the shoe wide. Slide it on the baby's foot and tie the laces or attach the Velcro fastenings. Repeat for the second shoe.

3
Rub your finger down the bottom of the baby's sole if he arches his foot or toes to prevent the shoe from staying on. Put the shoe on quickly after you surprise your baby with an impromptu foot massage. Fasten the shoe when the baby's feet are flat in the shoe.
-
4
Distract your baby with a bottle or toy if all else fails. Combine a foot massage with a distraction if your child is particularly difficult to get shoes onto.
-
5
Wait until the child goes to sleep if you are determined to show off the adorable baby shoes you have purchased. Baby shoes are not necessary until a child begins to walk. Bring the shoes along in the car and sneak them onto her little feet after she dozes off for a nap.
