Things You'll Need:
- Screwdriver
- New screening
- Spline
- Scissors
-
Step 1
Remove the screen door from the door frame and lay it on a flat work surface. If the handle keeps you from getting to the screen, remove it as well.
-
Step 2
Pry the old spline from the track that runs around the perimeter of the screen.
-
Step 3
Remove and discard the worn or torn screening mesh.
-
Step 4
Lay a new screen over the opening and cut away the excess. Leave several inches on every side to ensure you have enough screening material to cover the door.
-
Step 5
Push the spline back into the track, making sure to trap the screen beneath it. Pull the screen taunt while you're securing the spline into place.
-
Step 6
Trim away the excess screen once the spline is fully repositioned. Return the handle to the door and rehang your newly repaired screen door.
