If you love to read and talk about books, starting a book review blog can give you an outlet for creative expression. With a book review blog, you can track the books you have read and others may benefit from your reviews.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Decide whether the books you review will focus on a specific genre or theme. For example, you might choose to review the latest bestsellers each month or review only memoirs. Whichever theme or genre you choose, stick with known titles to draw readers in.
Step2
Schedule time to read the books for your blog each day and post the reviews each week or month. Setting aside enough time for reading and drafting blog posts will keep your blog from overwhelming you.
Step3
Review the book. Introduce the title and describe the scope, main characters and plot. Provide your reactions and summarize the book in each blog post.
Step4
Post open-ended questions for your readers to respond to. This will keep your readers interested in what you have to say.
Step5
Promote your book review blog. Post comments on other book review blogs and include your link in the comment. Consider signing up for a blog ad network or join a blogging community. Email the blog link to others and include the link in your email auto signature or social networking profile.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to build a reader base or drive traffic to another website that you run, review books that provide a logical link to that content. For example, if you also run a website that gives financial advice, reviewing books about banking, tax issues, investing and other financial issues.
