When you first save a document in Microsoft Word 2003, Word records the date and time and saves it as the document creation date. You may want to insert this date into the actual document. The steps below will show you how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Start Microsoft Word 2003 and open a document from your files or start a blank document into which you want to insert a document creation date.
Step2
Click the place in which you want to place the insertion point to enter the document creation date.
Step3
Choose the "Insert" menu and click on "Field" to open a dialog box. The "Field" dialog box contains all the field codes that can be inserted into your Word document.
Step4
Right-click the "Categories" drop-down list and choose "Date and Time" from the list of categories. The options for this category will display in the "Field Names" list just below "Categories."
Step5
Select "CreateDate" from the list of fields. The choices for a date format will be displayed in the middle "Field properties" section of the dialog box.
Step6
Choose a date format from the "Date formats" list. The date format will be highlighted once you have chosen it.
Step7
Click "OK" to close the dialog box and insert the document creation date into the area you specified.
