Download and test different media ripping applications. Numerous websites provide links to the most recent versions with trial periods that range from 1 to 30 days. Make sure the program works to your satisfaction before you pay.

Navigate to the website with the media you want to download. Highlight the URL in the browser's address bar.

Launch the capture application. Specific interfaces will differ but all will have a field or window for the source URL. Depending on the application copy and paste or drag and drop the source URL.

Convert the media. Some applications will do this automatically, but most require you to click a button to load the file. Make sure the file is completely processed before you try to play it back.

Tips & Warnings
For Windows streaming media make sure the application will process ASF, WMV, ASX, WMA, WMX, WVX and WAX files using RTSP, HTTP or MMS protocols.
Real Video files require applications that capture RM, RMVB, RA, RAM, SMI and SMIL files using RTSP, PNM or HTTP protocols.
You can also download software to capture streaming QuickTime, FLV and other formats. Most can be found with a search or on shareware warehousing sites.
It is illegal to download copyrighted media without permission.
Reject shareware applications that don't offer full testing of basic features. You can probably find identical capabilities in other programs with reasonable trial periods.
