A navigation system can take all the guesswork out of driving in unfamiliar territory. It can also save you time with your errands by ordering them in the shortest, fastest routes possible and with the least amount of traffic. These devices are simple to install in your Jeep.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a navigation system that will fit into the opening where your car audio is housed. This needs to be an easy fit. Otherwise, you will need to choose a different navigation system or have a car audio professional customize the dash to fit the system.

  2. Step 2

Remove your factory radio and unscrew the wiring harness. Navigational systems are built into your car's audio equipment, so you will be replacing your car stereo, and then programming the navigation system within the audio system.

  3. Step 3

Use a different method of installation depending on the year and model of Jeep. For the 2004 Grand Cherokee, the 2004 to 2007 Libertys or 2004 to 2007 Wranglers, plug the wiring harness into the new system, snap the system into the dash and set it. For 2005 to 2007 Grand Cherokees or 2006 to 2007 Commanders, slide the system into place, screw the wiring harness in and set.

  4. Step 4

Power your Jeep and turn the navigational system on. It should automatically detect that it has been installed in a Jeep and should offer that option on the screen. If it doesn't, unhook the device and try again or take it to a professional car audio installer.
