Find a local PADI certification class for scuba diving. Use the PADI website to locate the closest certification class near you. Contact the dive center offering the PADI class to find out what equipment you will need to provide. You will also need to purchase course materials, which often include book, video and dive log book.

Acquire equipment. This usually includes snorkel, mask, fins, boots, gloves and hood. Swimming pool sessions are primarily used to learn the equipment. After completion to the instructors satisfaction, you will receive a PADI certification card.
