Creating a kaleidoscope is an entertaining way to spend time, and half the fun is in decorating your new toy. Looking inside a kaleidoscope is the ultimate kicki, but the outside should hint at the beauty within.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Newspaper
  • Drawing materials
  • Rhinestones
  • Decoupage glue
Step1
Wind wrapping paper, posters or newspapers around the kaleidescope and tape or glue the paper in place.
Step2
Draw on your kaleidoscope with markers, pencils, or other materials. Whenever possible, use water-safe materials.
Step3
Engrave or carve your kaleidoscope. This will only work if your kaleidoscope is made out of certain materials, such as wood or metal.
Step4
Add rhinestones, stickers or beads to your kaleidoscope as you decorate it. You can do this over wrapping paper or drawings, or just glue on the materials alone.
Step5
Decoupage your kaleidoscope with pictures, photos or fabric. This is a great way to protect your work from disaster because it creates a clear, hard coat over your kaleidoscope.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use double-sided tape to get a clean seam when decorating your kaleidoscope with newspaper or wrapping paper.
