Wire is a versatile material, making it perfect for jewelry making. Regardless of your skill level, you can learn to make various fashion accessories with some simple tools and a piece of wire. Coils are one example of what you can create while making wire jewelry. Use the coils just as you would use beads.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clear tape
  • Needlenose pliers
  • Pen
  • Pliable wire
  • Wire cutters
  1. Step 1

Place a piece of clear tape on one nose of your needlenose pliers and make a pen mark on the tape which corresponds to the intended size of the coil. Circle the mark all the way around the nose of your pliers.

  2. Step 2

Choose a pliable wire for making coils. Grip the end of the wire with your pliers, lining the wire up with your pen mark, and guide the wire around the nose. When you make one full loop, push the coil up slightly so that you can continue wrapping along the pen mark.

  3. Step 3

Continue wrapping your coil around your pliers until your reach your desired length. Depending on your taste and use for the coil, you can make the coils tight, so that each loop is touching, or loose to make a coiled spiral.

  4. Step 4

Cut the wire when you have finished your coil.
