Things You'll Need:
- Crimping beads
- Flat pliers
- Zip-lock baggies
-
Step 1
Slip the small metal crimping beads onto your thread, wire or fishing line. Hold the bead in place and smash it flat with a pair of flat pliers.
-
Step 2
Store your crimping beads in small zip-lock baggies, as they are small and easy to lose. Crimping beads come in round or square shapes, which work in the same way. You will press both versions flat. However, the squares will create small rectangles while the round beads create a flat circle.
-
Step 3
Crimp a bead onto the end of a bracelet or necklace so that the rest of your beads don't fall off while you're connecting clasps. You also can use crimping beads on either side of a single bead or group of beads to create the illusion of floating. You also can use a crimping bead to hold your unfinished work in place. Use your pliers to uncrimp the bead when you are ready to continue working.

Step 4
Crimp beads to the ends of your jewelry creations to ensure that you do not lose beads if a clasp breaks, and to attach your clasp. You can slide a crimping bead on your thread, and then slip the thread through your clasp loop. Push the crimping bead up and over the loose end and press to hold the clasp in place.
