Attachment bars are an essential part of wire jewelry making, and they can be used to create earrings, pendants, charms or links for bracelets and necklaces. While attachment bars can be purchased in most craft or beading stores, you can make them with materials you probably already own.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire
  • Beads and/or accessories
  • Wire cutters
  • Needlenose pliers
  1. Step 1

Decide how you intend to use your attachment bar. Attachment bars can be used as a part of earrings or necklace pendants, for links in a bracelet or for charms and accents. Choose the size of wire depending on the look your planning for your final jewelry piece.

  2. Step 2

Select any beads or accessories that you would like to add to the center of the attachment bar. Cut a piece of wire 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch longer than the intended length of the final bar. Pinch the end of the wire with your needlenose pliers. Where you pinch the wire will depend on how large you would like the loop.

  3. Step 3

Guide the wire around the nose of your pliers with your thumb until you complete the loop. Hold the end of the loop where it meet the excess wire and bend the wire slightly so that the excess is perpendicular to the loop.

  4. Step 4

Slide your selected beads onto the attachment bar, and then create a matching loop on the opposite end. Use your beaded attachment bar in a variety of jewelry creations.
