Wire jewelry is an entertaining hobby for jewelry enthusiasts of all skill levels. While most of your tools and accessories can be purchased in craft stores, many of these items can be made with materials you already have. An attachment bar, an essential part of jewelry making, is just one example of an accessory you can learn to make.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Needlenose pliers
  1. Step 1

Determine the size of wire you would like to use for your attachment bar. As a general rule, you should use thicker wire for attachment bars if they are being used in bracelets. However, any size wire can be used for your jewelry creations.

  2. Step 2

Cut a piece of wire 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch longer than the intended length of your bar. Leave room for your end loops. Grip the end of the wire with your needlenose pliers. Where on your pliers you grip the wire will depend on how large you want the end loops to be. Guide the wire around your pliers with your thumb to complete the loop.

  3. Step 3

Release the loop from your pliers and hold the end of the loop with the tip of your pliers. You should be holding the end which connects to the excess wire, not the severed end of the wire. Bend the excess wire so that it is perpendicular to the loop.

  4. Step 4

Repeat this process to make a loop on the opposite end of the bar. Use your attachment bars in a variety of jewelry creations.
