One of the best parts of making wire jewelry is creating your own pendants, charms and accents. If you are looking for a new idea, try placing a bead into a looped diamond pattern. This technique can be used to make a creative chain, a pair of earrings or with many other jewelry projects.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Accent bead
  • Wire cutters
  • 4-inch piece of wire (size may vary)
  • Needlenose pliers
  1. Step 1

Choose an accent bead as the center of your diamond piece. Cut a piece of wire about 4-inches long; the length of your wire may change, depending on the size of your bead and the desired size of your diamond-shaped accessory.

  2. Step 2

Hold the end of the wire with the tips of your needlenose pliers to make a the smallest loop possible, and then slip your bead onto the loop. Grip the wire about 1 cm from your bead and guide the wire around the nose of your pliers with your thumb. The location of your grip on the pliers will depend on your desired loop size. Use the same location for each loop.

  3. Step 3

Complete the loop, and then grip the wire as close as possible to the base of the loop. Make another loop, wrapping the wire in the opposite direction 1 1/2 times around the nose of your pliers.

  4. Step 4

Continue looping the wire in opposing directions 1 1/2 times around the pliers to create a diamond with 9 loops. Every odd number loop should create a corner. When you reach your first loop, slip the nose of your pliers into the loop. Wrap the loose end of the wire around the nose to create a doubled loop.

  5. Step 5

Connect your diamond-shaped beaded accent to your wire jewelry creations with the double loop.
