Wire jewelry is one of the most versatile forms of jewelry making and is great for beginners and experts alike. While many people choose to purchase pre-made clasps for their wire jewelry creations, in just a few steps you can learn to make a loop for your clasps.
- Difficulty:
- Moderately Easy
Instructions
- Crimping beads
- Needlenose pliers
- Wire cutters
- Piece of wire, 2 to 3 inches
-
-
1
Stop the beads on your jewelry from falling off by placing crimping beads on each end, and secure them with your pliers.
-
2
Cut a 2- or 3-inch piece of wire to begin the loop for your clasps. The wire should be the same size that you have used to make your jewelry. Squeeze the end of the wire close to the tip of your needlenose pliers to make a small loop. Twist your pliers to curl the wire around the nose of the pliers.
-
3
Squeeze the wire under the loop once you have a complete circle and make two more loops slightly smaller than the first. The two smaller loops should as tight together as possible. Hold the double loops in your hands and straighten out the large loop with your pliers.
-
4
Attach one loose wire of your jewelry into the double loops and attach your clasp to the large loop. Use your handmade loops with your own clasps, or purchase pre-made clasps for your jewelry creations.
