Things You'll Need:
- Wire cutters
- 3 or 4 inch piece of wire
- Needlenose pliers
- Scissors
- Fishing line
- Crimping beads
- Flat pliers
- Tiger's eye beads
- Accent beads
-
Step 1
Make the clasp for your necklace. Cut a piece of wire about 3- or 4-inches long and then grip the end with the midsection of your needlenose pliers. Guide the wire around the nose of your pliers to make a complete loop and trim the extra wire.
-
Step 2
Use the extra wire to make your hook. Grip the tip of the wire with the midsection of your pliers. Wrap the wire around to make a complete circle and release the loop. Pinch the extra wire about 1/4 inch from your circle and bend the wire over to create a hook shape. Cut off the wire to make a hook of your desired size. Use your pliers to double the end of your hook.
-
Step 3
Cut a piece of fishing line just slightly longer than your desired necklace length. Loop the end of the fishing line through your single wire loop, and then attach the end together with a crimping bead. To use a crimping bead, simply slide the ends of your fishing line into the center of the bead, and then smash with a pair of flat pliers.
-
Step 4
Select your beads for your tiger's tail necklace. The number of tiger's eye beads will depend on the length of your necklace and the spacing of your beads. You will need twice as many accent beads, which should be a slightly smaller size than your tiger's eye beads.
-
Step 5
Slide a crimping bead onto your fishing line and crimp it tight about 1 inch from your loop. You can now place an accent bead, a tiger's eye bead and another accent bead onto the fishing line. Add another crimping bead to keep the section of three together, and then repeat until you reach the end of your necklace. You canspace the sections further apart or closer together.
-
Step 6
Place an extra crimping bead onto the line when you are ready to complete the necklace, leaving the bead loose. Slide the fishing line through the loop of your hook, and then double the fishing line. Slide the crimping bead up and over the loose end of the fishing line and secure with your pliers. Trim the extra to finish your jewelry.
