Some of a girl's favorite things include jewelry and butterflies, and now you can combine to two to make your own unique jewelry creations. Once you have mastered a basic butterfly technique, you can use your skills to make chains for adorable butterfly bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more. A few tips will get you started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire cutters
  • Various 3 inch pieces of wire
  • Needle nose pliers
  1. Step 1

Cut a piece of wire about 3 inches long to create the first butterfly of your jewelry chain. Grip the very end of the wire with your needle nose pliers. Where you grip the wire on your pliers will depend on how large you want your butterfly wings to be; however, make sure you wrap the wire around the same position each time.

  2. Step 2

Guide the wire around the nose of your pliers to create a complete loop. Release the loop and grip the wire just below your finished loop and wrap once again, this time in the opposite direction. Make two more equal sized loops, alternating direction at each time. When you have four loops, you should be able to see your completed butterfly.

  3. Step 3

Trim the excess wire and then begin to create more butterflies for your chain. You can use the same wire, wire of different sizes, colored wire or even make larger and smaller butterflies. Use your creativity to design your own unique jewelry creations.

  4. Step 4

Join your chain once you have enough butterflies for your jewelry project. Find a wire end on one of your butterflies and slip the tip of your pliers into the loop and twist the loop open. Place the wing of another butterfly into the opened loop and then hold the loop with your pliers again and twist closed.

  5. Step 5

Repeat this technique with all of your butterflies to create a unique butterfly chain.
