How to Cut Pizza Bread

Pizza bread combines some of the best carbohydrates in the world. With a nice thick crust covered with a touch of tomato sauce, whatever toppings you desire and cheese, you really can't go wrong. But if you've ever tried to cut pizza bread before, you know it's a little tricky. After all, it's thicker than pizza, and you probably don't have the tool your local pizza shop owns.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bread knife
  • Cutting board
  • Oven mitts
  1. Step 1

Build and bake your pizza bread before you cut into it. If you are making bruschetta, making small pieces up front is the name of the game. However, since you are using a bread (most likely Italian or French) as your basis, you want to build the bread (complete with sauce, cheese and toppings) first. Then bake it so all of the flavors have melded and melted together. Otherwise, if you cut the pizza bread at the start, you'll have loose sauce, cheese and toppings falling all over the place.

  2. Step 2

Allow your pizza bread to cool once it is out of the oven. Remember that pizza bread will take only a few minutes to cook since the dough is already baked. When you take the pizza bread out of the oven it will be at a few hundred degrees, so use oven mitts and then allow the pizza bread to rest on the cutting board.

  3. Step 3

Slice the pizza bread into large hunks with a bread knife. For an average sized French or Italian bread, you will get 6 servings. Then simply plate and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a great activity for kids at a party. Allow them to build their own pizza bread with whatever toppings they wish and then watch it bake.
  • If you don't have a sharp bread knife you can use a pair of kitchen shears. Just make sure to wash them before and after as kitchen sheers do a lot of dirty work, like trimming herbs.
  • For a low carb version, you can hollow out the bread. It will be just like thin crust pizza.
