Things You'll Need:
- Mixing bowl
- Kosher salt
- Ground black pepper
- Olive oil
- Tomatoes
- Onion
- Basil
- Garlic
- Grated cheese
-
Step 1
Add the kosher salt and ground black pepper to a mixing bowl. You do not have to use kosher salt if you don't have any on hand. Regular table salt will do just fine.
-
Step 2
Measure the olive oil and add it to the mixing bowl. Olive oil is the traditional oil used to make bruschetta, but if you prefer, you can substitute the oil of your choice.
-
Step 3
Add the chopped tomatoes, onion, basil and garlic to the mixing bowl. Instead of using fresh basil, you can add a bit of dried basil. If you prefer your foods more flavorful, adjust the garlic accordingly. You can try adding some capers or balsamic vinegar to the mixture, as well.
-
Step 4
Gently mix the ingredients in the bowl. You can't stir it too hard or too quickly, because the tomatoes will break apart. Test the mixture and add any extra seasoning.
-
Step 5
Add your grated cheese and gently stir the bruschetta ingredients again. When it is mixed and seasoned to your liking, cover the bowl and chill the mixture for at least an hour so the flavors can blend.
