Washing your hair something that everyone does frequently. However, many people do not wash their hair correctly. Washing one's hair is simply not a matter of rubbing a product in your hair to clean it. It is a process to clean the hair and stimulate the blood flow in the scalp.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Soak the hair with warm water. Make sure you wet the hair completely and evenly.

  2. Step 2

Massage the scalp with the pads of your thumbs and fingers. This relaxes any tension that is in the scalp and helps relax the hair follicles. Rub the scalp in circular motions. Massaging the scalp also helps to increase the blood flow. Good blood flows helps the hair product collagen which is needed for healthy hair.

  3. Step 3

Apply the shampoo. A small amount (about the size of a quarter) in your hand should be sufficient. Gently massage the shampoo into the hair. Move your fingers in a circular motion to massage the scalp and work the shampoo into the hair. You only need to apply shampoo one time to the head.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the hair thoroughly. Make sure you rinse all of the shampoo out of the hair. Shampoo residue in the hair will make the scalp dry and itchy.

  5. Step 5

Use conditioner. Simply apply a small amount of conditioner to the parts of the hair that are not against the scalp. Do not put conditioner on the scalp because it will make the hair limp. Gently rub the conditioner into the strands of hair and thoroughly rinse it out.

  6. Step 6

Run some cold water over the hair for a few minutes. This will close the follicles and make the hair have more shine.

  7. Step 7

Dry the hair with a towel using a patting motion. Rubbing the hair with a towel causes tangles and frizz.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wash your hair every day or every other day. Clean hair is healthy hair.
