Straighten your hair with a small ceramic flat iron if your hair is thick or course. Simply run the flat iron over one-inch sections of hair from root to end. If you find yourself frequently in a rush, buy a large flat iron with large ceramic plates so you can straighten larger sections of hair at a time.

Style your hair again with a brush after you finish with the flat iron. Lightly spray your hair all over with hairspray, if necessary. Hold the hairspray bottle at least 12 inches from your hair to avoid depositing too much spray in one place. You've now achieved your sleek, modern hairstyle.
