Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pour a quarter-sized drop of clear hair gel in your palm, then rub your hands together. Clear hair gel is best because colored hair gel can leave a dull film on your hair. You're now ready to shape your curls.

  2. Step 2

Lean forward and allow your hair to fall in front of you, if you're styling your own hair. Use your hands to gently squeeze and cup your curls up toward your scalp. Imagine the bellows of an accordion as you do this-gently squeezing in and out. This movement encourages your natural curls and waves.

  3. Step 3

Stand up, and flip your hair back. Use your hands to arrange your curls to suit your style. If you like the way your hair looks when it's wet, you will like how it looks when it dries. Once you've styled your curly hair to suit you, leave it alone for at least an hour. Touching curly hair encourages frizz.

  4. Step 4

Spray your hair with water and scrunch again to reactivate your hair gel if your curls fall flat during the day. Give your hair a quick shuffle from underneath to allow the layers of hair to reconnect. If your hair gel dries too crunchy, melt a little styling cream or wax between your palms, then run your hands lightly over the top layer of your hair.
