Step 1
Make your own brooms for ritual to add more meaning and spirit to their use in witchcraft. You can make the broom a standard size or small like a hand fan, depending on how you will use it. Gather the materials yourself, choosing fallen branches, twigs, feathers, natural twine, crystals and other natural objects.
-
Step 2
Use brooms before a ritual ceremony to clear negative energies from your circle. The broom should be moved clockwise, or in the direction of the sun which is called deosil in witchcraft. Your broom should only slightly brush the surface of the ground and can also be moved through the air to send any negativities to the sun.
-
Step 3
Complete your ritual ceremony by closing your circle. Move your broom in the direction of widdershins, or counter-clockwise. This movement brings energies inward and should be used with caution. Make sure you have cleared your circle well in the movement of deosil before moving towards widdershins.
-
Step 4
Clear the energies of people using brooms as well. You can use the same concepts of widdershins and deosil in witchcraft to help clear negative energies from or draw positive energies to a person.

Step 5
Store your brooms in save, clean places where they will not accidentally be used for common household chores. Some even hang their brooms and keep them on display as a reminder to keep energetic spaces clean.
