Go back with your right foot on the fifth beat, and step in place with your left foot on the sixth beat, then bring your left foot forward and set it beside your right foot on the seventh beat as you do the basic salsa steps for men.

Keep your arms bent at the elbows and near your "home base" as you do the basic salsa steps for men. Hold your hands about level with your belly button.

Remember to pause on the fifth and seventh beats as you're doing the basic salsa step for men, thus following the syncopated rhythms of the salsa music itself.
