Step 1
Select vases suitable for flower arrangements. The vase should support the flowers without overpowering them. Simple vases let the flowers be the star of the show. Overly ornate or colorful vases should be displayed for their own beauty and not used to showcase flowers.
-
Step 2
Determine the size of your arrangement. Fuller bouquets need a wider mouth vase; smaller stems need a small opening to support their blooms. The mouth of the vase should be wide enough to hold your arrangement without pinching it in but small enough to hold the stems upright.
-
Step 3
Consider the height of your arrangement. In general, the vase should be tall for longer blooms like lilies or daffodils. Closely cut flowers whether roses or gerber daisies can float in a very low vase, such as a bowl.

Step 4
Complement colors. Colored vases can add to the overall look of your arrangement so long as the color does not detract from the blooms. If you know the color of the vase before selecting your bouquet, try to choose a few flowers that are the same color as your vase to accent the color.
