Displaying memorable pictures on your wall is a great way to honor friends and family, but making sure they look good can be a chore. Taking the time and making the effort to plan and organize your photos allows you to take a step back at the end of your project and reflect proudly on your photos.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Picture frames
  • Pencil
  • Nails
  • Hanging brackets (optional)
  • Hammer
  • Tape Measure
  1. Step 1

Choose your photos and frame them. Picture frames that match or compliment one another belong on the same wall or in the same room, so use frames that are similar in color and design.

  2. Step 2

Lay your framed photos on the floor. By placing your pictures out in front of you, you can determine the way you want to arrange them before beginning to hang them on the wall. If you have many photos of differing sizes, place them at different positions to see which way they'll look the best in your room.

  3. Step 3

Measure your wall's width and height to determine the center point. If you're placing your photos above an object, such as a television or sofa, measure the height only for the portion above the object. Place a small pencil mark in the center of your wall. Also measure your photo display from Step 2, top to bottom, to determine the overall area that your photos will consume on the wall. It's helpful to determine how the photos will hang on the wall--from the back of the picture frame--and measure from that center point on the picture frame to the center point of the next frame to correctly place the hanging brackets or nails into the wall.

  4. Step 4

Begin placing your hanging brackets and nails to hang your picture frames. Taking your measurements from Step 3, re-measure on the wall itself, from the ceiling down, to accurately place your first nail. Use the center most photo as a starting point.

  5. Step 5

Work downward and outward from the center-most photo to finish hanging your photos. Because the frames will cover most nail holes made, you can make adjustments as necessary to center your photos on the wall.

Tips & Warnings
  • When centering photos on a wall, you're not going to hit a stud in the wall. For additional support, use hanging brackets in place of a single nail to hang your photos.
