Step 1
Create a welcoming and exciting environment for the children. Use a lot of colorful props and things the kids like to get their attention. An exciting and fun environment will make kids want to come to the youth group activities and it will attract new children as well.
-
Step 2
Provide fun, interesting and educational activities that all of the children will like to do. If you are unsure of what the children like, simply ask them. Have something new during each meeting that will get their attention and make them want to participate in your activity.
-
Step 3
Organize. Be prepared ahead of time. Know what you are going to do before the youth group meeting starts. Students need structure and organization. Otherwise, they will be more likely to misbehave. Make a lesson plan and stick to it.
-
Step 4
Keep accurate records. Make sure you keep attendance records and other important records that are required by your organization. Make sure all of the records are up to date. Always keep medical records on hand so that you will know what to do with a child in case of an emergency.
-
Step 5
Know the fire drills, tornado drills and other emergency information. Practice these with the children. You can never be too prepared for an emergency.
-
Step 6
Make the group fun. Laugh, play, tell jokes and have fun.
