The internet has been around for more than 19 years. But, do you find yourself turning on your pc and just sitting there wondering what to do. You check your junk mail and play a couple of games. Your spouse yells at you to get off and spend time with them, but you just can't turn it off... yet you are doing nothing and looking at nothing. Well, now you'll have an alibi. Here's some super sites that you'll want to be sure to bookmark to get the most use of your pc and the internet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  1. Step 1

Turn on your pc. Once you have an internet connection go to step 2.

  2. Step 2

www.nws.noaa.gov For the most accurate in weather, floods, warnings, etc. The national Weather Service. Just type in your zip code.

  3. Step 3

www.usgs.gov For the latest in earthquakes. See when quakes around the world are happening. On the left column click on the word WORLD under the header "Hazards". Then scroll down and click on each link under the "Earthquake List".

  4. Step 4

www.ebay.com For buying or selling it's the best. Be sure to check the seller' s rating and user comments before buying from someone.

  5. Step 5

www.netflix.com For ordering online or in home movies and dvd's. Stop wasting gas and time driving to a video store (TWICE! Once for the movie and another time to return it!)

  6. Step 6

www.bankofamerica.com Pay your bills online and never buy another stamp or make another trip to the post office!

  7. Step 7

www.news.google.com News updated by the minute. Each news article even tells you when the news came in - 1 hours ago, 1 day ago, etc.

  8. Step 8

www.turbotax.com Next year, do your own taxes. I have investments, IRAs, a 401k, I do my own and so can you. You can try it for free and only pay if you use it to file. Next time your Financial Planner does your taxes, do them yourself and check the numbers. This will also help you feel more confident if you get the same answer to file yourself.

  9. Step 9

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22419475 The best election score board I've seen. It even has live results of primaries.

  10. Step 10

www.entrepreneur.com It's every American's dream to run their own business and retire rich. Go here to get your next big idea.

  11. Step 11

www.swpc.noaa.gov Did you know we're in our next solar cycle? See how this can affect blackouts, cell phones, and more. Stay up to date on solar alerts. Just click on "Alerts / warnings" or "Space Weather Now".

  12. Step 12

www.worldwinner.com and www.pogo.com Of course what would the internet be without games. Pogo will let you play games for free to win money. Worldwinner lets you bet against another player of who will have the high score. I like this site because you can bet against just 2 other people instead of a huge community.

  13. Step 13

www.ehow.com How can I leave eHow out? Learn how to do just about anything and get paid to write articles.

  14. Step 14

www.monster.com and www.careerbuilder.com Find a new job or explore salary information before going in and asking for that big raise.

  15. Step 15

www.youtube.com View funny or informative videos submitted by users.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any time you put in personal bank information or credit card numbers, make sure you see the https in the address bar. This lets you know the site is secure.
  • Never give your bank account information to an unknown person or website.
  • Use sites like Paypal for money transactions.

on 7/16/2008 Another great site is www.stumbleupon.com

Its free and you can list what your interests are in many different areas. Then random websites will appear and if like it you can keep it and share with others, or you can check no, you dont want to keep and go on to another one. There is so much on the Internet ..I dont see how one could run out of things to do on computer.
